FAQs

WHAT ARE ELORA WRITING WORKSHOPS LIKE?

Think cozy living room meets creative writing class. Elora Writing Workshops are intentional about nurturing the writer and encouraging their strengths. No harsh criticism, ever.

Every workshop will give you uninterrupted time to write, an opportunity to share your work, strategies for strengthening your voice, plus publishing industry insights and discussions. And always delicious snacks.

WHY DO THEY FOLLOW THE AMHERST WRITERS & ARTISTS METHOD?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete novice or a literary giant—every writer sits in a vulnerable place when creating something new. The beauty of the AWA method is that it works for all writers, at any level, to unlock their best creative potential.

ARE THERE ELORA WRITING WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS?

Yes! Elora Writing Workshops facilitates a handful of writing workshops for school-age kids over the summer and the holiday season.

CAN I BRING IN A NOVEL EXCERPT, SHORT STORY OR POETRY FOR CRITIQUE?

Absolutely. Instead of responding to the writing prompt, writers can choose to revise or continue a work-in-progress during focused writing time. You’ll be encouraged to share your work with the group for feedback.

COMING SOON: Six-week focused writing courses where participants can share longer excerpts of a work-in-progress for more thorough feedback.

WHAT IF I PAID FOR A WORKSHOP AND CAN NO LONGER ATTEND?

Life happens, we understand. Just email Colleen as soon as possible so she can try to fill your spot: hello@elorawritingworkshops.com. Policy change: Due to hard costs for every in-person workshop we can accommodate one (1) deferral per participant.

REFUNDS: We have a no-questions-asked refund policy. If Elora Writing Workshops aren’t a good fit for you just let Colleen know and she’ll refund you 100%.
